MSEA Services

MSEA intends to work with the Mississippi Legislature and the Mississippi State Tax Commission to produce, and make available to all Mississippi equestrians, an attractive license plate designed to promote Mississippi equine and the people who breed, own, train and treat them.

MSEA intends to play a "sports editor" role in publishing and broadcasting the who, what, when and where regarding the announcement of and the results of different Mississippi equine judged and timed events. The association will pay special "news" tribute to owner, trainer and breeder members with distinct equestrian-endeavor achievement.

MSEA intends to develop a standing website, www.mssaddleup.org, which should be "on line" in May, 2007. In addition to website links to the American Horse Council, the Mississippi Cooperative Extension Service, HorseQuest, and others, there will be information relative to the healthcare of animals, travel routes and places to stay and stable horses while attending equestrian events, evaluation of travel equipment, etc. The site will also include a Who's Who among Mississippi equine professionals.

MSEA intends to be our state's official affiliate of the American Horse Council in Washington, D.C., and work with the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, Mississippi colleges and universities, and the State's economic development entities to become a focal point for reliable information regarding "the business of Mississippi equine."

MSEA intends to create a website compilation of Mississippi equine owners, addresses, breeds, pasture area, etc., to establish an "Equine Evacuation Program" (working with FEMA and MEMA) to assist citizens during times of natural disasters. In the future MSEA hopes to create a foundation that could accept suitable proper-ties to pasture and stable horses and provide appropriate Federal tax relief for Mississippi donors.

MSEA intends to establish a partnership with the U.S. Department of Interior's Bureau of Land Management to assist the "Adopt a Horse or Burro" program in the state.

MSEA intends to work closely with insurance entities to accommodate state equestrians with affordable equine mortality and property liability insurance, and explore possibilities to provide members healthcare and hospitalization insurance.

MSEA intends to establish a scholarship fund for qualified students, approximately 17 to 20 years of age, who chose to study Equine Veterinary Medicine and plan to practice in the State of Mississippi. MSEA hopes to establish a partnership with the Mississippi High School Rodeo Association to accomplish this goal.

MSEA intends to support deserving medical-treatment facilities such as the Batson Children's Hospital and the Mississippi Burn Center. MSEA will also work with Mississippi Therapeutic Horsemen.

MSEA intends to create a new grassroots equestrian public that works with organizations such as the Tennessee Valley Authority, Pearl River Valley Development District, Pat Harrison Waterway District, the State Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Park and county boards of supervisors to establish additional riding arenas and trails presently not designated for equestrian use.

MSEA intends to produce or sponsor at least one equine trade show a year, a show that will include a horse and mule auction and the display of a wide assortment of equine related goods and services, everything from clothing and saddles and bridles, to trucks, trailers, tractors and implements to barn accessories, fertilizers, horse feed and pharmaceuticals.
